Hey there, mommas! Here is a list of links to my most favorite pregnancy and postpartum items. After two pregnancies, I've gotten a pretty good feel for what I like and what I don't. So learn from me and get some ideas of where to spend your money - and where to save it!

Pregnancy Items

1. Maternity jeans! My favorites came from Target. Their over-belly jeans have a lot more support than some of the cheaper styles I had during my first pregnancy, and I wished I'd gone to Target earlier (I didn't buy those jeans until I was about 32 weeks and one of my cheaper pairs got a big rip in the belly band). During my second pregnancy, however, I was a much bigger fan of the under belly styles - but again, my favorite pair came from Target. My second favorite under belly pair I got on clearance at Motherhood; unfortunately, that style has been discontinued, however the fit and design is exactly the same as the ones from Target.

2. Blanqi leggings and maternity tank tops. Blanqi also recently released a line of maternity jeans, so I imagine they are also freakin' amazing. Blanqi is 100% totally beyond worth the splurge - if you get them on sale, you can get their leggings for down to $30, but if you're big and pregnant and in a rush, it's worth the money, I swear. When I was in the last month of my pregnancy, doubling up with their maternity leggings and a maternity tank top under a dress or long shirt/hoodie was my ideal daily outfit. The amount of support their clothes offer is amazing, and it's very comfortable.

3. Yoga bolster (INSTEAD of a pregnancy pillow). This one might seem odd, but I totally HATED my pregnancy pillow after a week. My neck started to hurt so bad I was waking up with migraines daily, and I still had sciatica pain (less pain than without the pillow, but it was still there). Frustrated during my second pregnancy, I ditched the $40 pillow for my $30 yoga bolster. It was PERFECT. I'm not the cuddly type, so I was only using the pregnancy pillow to keep my legs separated because a regular pillow didn't cut it. But my yoga bolster was even thicker and firmer than the pregnancy pillow, plus it was much smaller and took up less space in the bed, meaning I could use my regular memory foam pillow. My headaches went away, my sciatica pain went away almost completely, AND I already owned the yoga bolster. Bonus - the bolster can be used for your home prenatal yoga, postnatal yoga, and heck, even a fun toy for your baby when they become a toddler (mine loves to lay on it).

4. Intimate Portal maternity undies. I've had many different brands of maternity undies, but these are my favorite. They have multiple different styles, so be sure to check out their Amazon store. I absolutely despise over belly underwear (even though I LOVED over belly pants my first pregnancy), so I highly recommend the under belly styles. Underwear typically doesn't provide any belly support, so the under belly styles mean less bulk on your bump.

5. Motherhood Maternity Leggings. I recommend the basic or essential stretch fits. If you watch for sales, you can find the basic style leggings in a 3 pack for $30. These don't offer any support like the Blanqi ones do, but they are super comfortable and great for layering or wearing around the house. They are my Friday school spirit day staples (I'm also a teacher).

Postpartum Items

1. Knix CoreLove Underwear. The price of these is steep, but it was worth EVERY penny. If you're not already a believer in cloth pads/period panties, I highly recommend becoming one. While my experience is a whole other post in and of itself, let me just say that period panties totally changed my period experience. After you give birth, you have like a huge, massive, seemingly ENDLESS period. My Knix CoreLove panties not only served as great period undies, but the waist compression, combined with my Blanqi postpartum jeans, was a huge comfort after birth. I never wore a postpartum girdle because those two things combined were compression enough! You do SO MUCH laundry when you have a newborn that I was able to get by with only 3 pairs of these and 5 pairs of cotton period panties from Aisle (previously known as LunaPads) for sleeping in. I recommend the boxer brief style Aisle undies for sleeping in, coupled with a cloth pad or two, depending on how heavy you're bleeding.

2. Cake Nursing Bras. Again, a steep price, but worth the splurge. I got 3 of these bras on clearance (about $30 a bra) and fell in love right away. I have 32DD breasts (DDD when I'm actually nursing) and underwire free bras often just don't cut it on support.

3. Nursing Queen clothes. I WISH I had discovered this brand with my first pregnancy. I had some nursing tank tops and a few things that I kind of liked, but most of the nursing clothes I had were the double shirt style (with the layer that lifts up). I hated the way I looked in all those clothes, they were cheap, and they never looked very flattering on my body type. So when I found out I was pregnant the second time, I spent quite a bit of time researching cute nursing clothes (which are even harder to find than great maternity clothes). I found Nursing Queen on Etsy originally, but they have their own site as well. Everything is cute, flattering, comfortable, and great for nursing - the clothes are all designed with hidden zippers instead of layers, so you pretty much can't even tell you're wearing nursing clothes until you're actually ready to "plug in" your baby (as my mom calls it).
