Summer Sewing
Yesterday marks the last day of Seamwork's Design Your Wardrobe - Week 2. The goal for the week was the edit your inspiration for this season and create a mood board for your collection. I joined Seamwork a little over a year ago and I have loved what it's done for my sewing skills and motivation. I have learned so much about garment sewing through them - one of the biggest motivators has been doing Design Your Wardrobe. I am on my third DYW cycle and while I didn't do much my first time, my second time I made 15 garments! I am restraining myself more this time, but I am loving what it's doing for my organization and motivation.
This season, my collection is titled "Highland Librarian." I originally went with "Professional Geek," but after editing my inspiration and putting it together in a mood board, I decided it wasn't that geeky looking at all. Instead, I was getting Scottish highland vibes (probably influenced by Outlander withdrawals) with a touch of dusty librarian. Hence, my new name, which feels much more fitting.
I think it's perfect - I have an entire bolt of my dad's family's Scottish tartan - MacMillan hunting modern, my favorite - that I've been hoarding, waiting for the perfect project. I think this season may be the time to finally use it.
See my mood board below. If you want to join Seamwork, I highly recommend it! If you just want to make a mood board, I made mine on Canva.
Happy sewing!
