The Shopping Ban
I recently decided to put myself on a self imposed shopping ban. That means no unnecessary shopping allowed for the rest of the school year (which just began, so basically the entire year). My goal is to be free of credit card debt (and thus a lot of stress) by the time I recieve my final paycheck in June.
So far, I've done pretty good with it. I've resisted the urge to open my JoAnn emails, buy all the cute fabric, and get myself some new shoes (which I obviously do not need). The only mildly frivolous thing I've bought is clothes for my 1 year old and my unborn baby; but my kids need clothes, right?
It's actually been easier than I thought, honestly. I've been able to avoid a lot by unsubscribing to shopping emails, which has meant less junk email in my box. I also made part of this shopping ban mean I can only shop with my debit card or cash, which really changes my mindset when I pay for things. I have to think really hard about spending money now because the more I spend, the less I have to pay off debt, which means it'll take me longer to be debt free. It's been helpful to think of it that way.
I'm not really sure what else to say here. This will pretty much be my online diary, I suppose. More on my life later.
